Santander Universities and JS Group have teamed up to deliver the Santander Aspire Tech Grant which will be the first in a series of Santander Universities’ grants that will be awarded directly to students in the UK.
Santander Universities’ mission is to support students from diverse backgrounds into university, work and self-employment. Since 2007, Santander Universities has donated over £100 million to support students through partnerships with 85 universities across the UK.
Santander, through Santander Universities, is now launching a new scheme which will support students with resources for their studies. Working with JS Group, the new grants will provide 400 students from universities across the UK with the opportunity to receive a Santander Aspire Tech Grant worth up to £1000.
Successful applicants will be able to use their grant to purchase from a wide variety of resources on the Santander Aspire Tech webstore. This includes IT equipment and support such as laptops, tablets, printers, broadband connectivity, noise cancelling headphones and other equipment to ensure they can study on and off campus. Resources offered will also include support for student mental health and wellbeing. JS Group will manage and operate the webstore through its Aspire Technology Platform that currently supports over 200,000 students throughout the UK.
Matt Hutnell, Director, Santander Universities UK, said: “Santander is committed to supporting higher education as well as local communities across the UK so we’re pleased to be launching a new scheme which will support students who currently don’t have access to the technology they need for their studies. It’s fantastic to be working alongside JS Group to further build on our ongoing work with our partner universities to support those who need it the most.”
Peter Gray, CEO of JS Group, added: “It is a pleasure to be working with the team at Santander Universities who have such a great track record in supporting students here in the UK and globally. This scheme will not only provide timely financial support for students it will also provide very useful experience and feedback on engaging directly with students that will inform more ambitious programmes in the future.”
Applications for the new grants can be made online and the deadline is close of business on 25 August. To find out more about the Santander Aspire Tech Grant and apply, visit https://app.becas-santander.com/en/program/santander-scholarships-tech-santander-aspire-tech-grant-programme
