JS Group has published more than 20 articles about student mental health on its Student Engagement Portal.
The organisation has partnered with Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, whose experts have written the pieces.
Topics include top tips on how to manage uncertainty at university; practical ways to look after your wellbeing as a postgraduate research student and advice on how to build a social network while studying.
The content, which will soon include webinars about mental health, is available for all university partners’ students and can be found on JS Group’s Student Engagement Portal.
Students looking at the content are also signposted to their university’s health and support services.
The articles and webinars aim to help students with general mental health queries, rather than support those with specific conditions.
Julie Walkling, JS Group’s Director of Student Partnerships, has almost 30 years’ experience managing universities’ student wellbeing services.
She said: “Now, more than ever, we need to give students access to top-quality advice from mental health experts. We know that record numbers of our students are struggling with their mental health and this is one of the ways we can support them.
“As we in the sector know, the UK’s 2.66 million students contribute in a multitude of ways towards the improvement of our society. It’s in all of our interests for them to make the most of their time at university and that means helping them where we can.”
JS Group has worked with more than 35 universities over 15 years, supporting institutions to deliver better outcomes for their students and provide employment, funding and engagement strategies. Student Minds, which is funded by the Office for Students, trains students and staff in universities to deliver student-led peer support interventions, as well as research-driven workshops and campaigns.
